North Branch of the Great Chazy River restoration
at
Blue Haven Family Campground and Resort
Hello everyone! Here is the Cross vane diverter constructed in between Maple 8 and
Riverside 19
Note how it forces the water to the center of the channel. The Channel should deepen in the center because of the depth and flow.
This structure also protects the banks on each side of the River both
upstream and down.
This will keep the river channel from getting wider, slower and shallower.
Vegetation will now be able to grow making the banks more and more stable,
instead of being washed away due to the erosion. Not only do these structures provide protection, they look natural,
sound
natural, and it has a positive impact on the aquatic habitat. We have Studied the River extensively and collect enough data to keep us
busy all winter.
My efforts will be to develop a plan action,
then budget to do some work
every year that will constantly improve our river
making it safer, healthier and
self maintaining.
Thank You,
John Momot
